Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't: Individualized Shirts (2001)

Anyone familiar with the Olivia Tremor Control or the magnificent Elephant 6 collective should know Pipes You See, Pipes You Dont, musical project of OTC keyboardist Peter Erchick.

Individualized Shirt's is Erchick's first LP under the moniker. It was originally released in 2001, but Orange Twin gave it a second spin in '03. The album has a sound that can be tied well enough to Olivia's recordings, but is best looked at as completely seperate. I favour the disc over 2002's Special Fanfare for Anything primarily because mood. I have always been the type of person who needs the ideal mood music, and Individualized Shirts has the perfect atmosphere for early morning reading-- and blog surfing. The perfect balance of sweet and unsettling to compliment your severe sleep deprivation and to keep you awake for hours to come!
