This was another fluke find on my part; I'm not entirely certain how I ended up with this disc. It was, however, my first gypsy brass album... And doesn't seem to have many listeners.
I cannot easily locate information about this band on the internet in English. It's a fantastic gypsy brass album, and is well worth your time, even if it isn't your usual genre of choice. You never know when you'll be in the mood for it.
Last.fm says they're Serbian.
A friend of mine from yoga class went home to Belgrade a few years ago to visit her parents. She asked me what I wanted and I said, "bring me a CD of some Gypsy brass!"
ReplyDeleteI play clarinet in a brass band here in New Orleans (Panorama Brass) and we have a few Balkan numbers in our book. I haven't gotten around to transcribing anything off of this album yet but I will.
Damn good music.
